Cavs Fall To Findlay In Divisional Opener

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh opened up North Division play with an 11-5 defeat to Findlay at Biery Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (14-12, 7-6) and Oilers (16-5, 9-2) were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader, but because of the snow that came down the previous night, the two will play two on Sunday.

Walsh struck first in the bottom of the first after Marcus Bobb scored after Findlay attempted to pick off Eric Conner. Conner later put the Maroon and Gold up 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth with a double down the left field line to score Cobe Hutchison.

Findlay answered with a pair of runs in the next frame to start a streak a scoring in each inning for the rest of the game. Back-to-back homers by Conner and Andrew Czech allowed the Cavaliers to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh, but the Oilers closed with six in the final two innings.

Conner finished the day 3-for-5 with three RBI. Hutchison also had a three-hit game with a run scored. Bobb went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and a walk.

Nick Bebout started the game and went six strong innings with six strikeouts. He allowed three runs, one earned, on nine hits. Frank Frate was charged with the loss in his first decision of the season.

First pitch for tomorrow has now been set at 1:30 p.m.
