(INDIANAPOLIS) – For the second week in a row, a Walsh player has been named the G-MAC's North Division Player of the Week. This time it's Avery Janning who provided the power from the plate and was tabbed with the accolades a week after teammate Andrew Czech.
Janning led the team to a pair of key wins over Lake Erie and went 9-for-16 from the plate in four games. He hit in eight runs on those at-bats which included a home run and two doubles. He also scored four runs.
Most of the damage came in the two aforementioned wins against the Storm that helped Walsh jump Lake Erie in the North Division standings. In Game One, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double to bring in four runs while he scored three himself in a 12-5 win. He helped Walsh complete the sweep in Game Two with four more RBI in a 3-for-4 performance.
Janning is third in the productive Walsh batting order in average (.362) as the Cavaliers have completed 32 games with an 18-14 record. He has seven home runs, eight doubles and 31 RBI this spring.
Janning and the rest of the Cavaliers will be back on the diamond tomorrow as they complete the series with Lake Erie on the road in Eastlake at Classic Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
