ASHLAND, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers baseball team traveled to Ashland, Ohio for a non-conference game against the Eagles of Ashland University on Tuesday (March 19).
Ashland scored five runs in the final two innings, lifting the Eagles to an 8-4 win.
In the first inning with runners on the corners, Avery Janning lined a RBI single back up the middle for the Cavaliers. Walsh led 1-0 until the fourth inning.
After Walsh loaded the bases on a double, walk and single, Bailey Mosley scored a run from third base with a sacrifice fly to left field. The Cavaliers made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth before Ashland scored in the bottom half of the frame.
The Eagles jumpd on top 3-2 with a run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning.
A two-run sixth inning gave the Cavaliers back the lead. Following an Ashland pitching change, Mosley singled and stole second base. Andrew Czech plated Mosley with a RBI single to center field. Janning, the next batter, brought Czech home with a RBI double to center field.
The Eagles used a four-run seventh and added one more run in the eighth inning for an 8-4 win.
As a team, the Cavaliers had 11 hits with four guys contributing multi-hit games. Janning went three-for-four while Czech, Cam Kaiser and Jarret Lyon each had two hits.
Walsh will rest up until their next games, which will be on Wednesday (March 27) against Malone at 1:00/4:00 PM.
