PARKERSBURG, West Virginia - The Walsh University baseball team stayed hot heading into the second day of their series with G-MAC foe, the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots. The Cavaliers won the first game of this afternoon's (March 30) double-header 9-1 and the second game 10-6, to complete the four game series.
Neither team was able to score in the first three innings, but the bats started to heat up for the Cavs in the fourth with a three-run inning. Walsh secured the win with a five-run seventh inning, highlighted by Eric Conner's first homerun of the day. Avery Janning went four-for-four from the batter's box, including two RBI.
The Cavaliers put up three multi-run innings in the second game of the day. In the first inning Walsh scored three runs starting when Andrew Czech doubled, scoring one run, and Janning singled scoring two more runners. The Cavs recorded two runs in the fourth, giving Jacob Beachy and Cobe Hutchinson each an RBI. Janning hit a two RBI single and Conner homered for the second time on the day, scoring Janning to cap off the 10 runs. Czech went four-for-five, including two RBI.
Five different pitchers took the mound for the Cavaliers. Brant Alazaus garnered his first win of the season.
Next up for the Cavaliers is a non-conference double-header at Indiana (Pa.) on Tuesday, April 2.
