Football Signs 31 for 25th Anniversary Season

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - In accordance with National Signing Day, football head coach John Fankhauser and his staff have announced the addition of 31 signees to the Walsh Cavaliers football program, just in time for the 25th anniversary season in 2019.

Coach Fankhauser signed 29 incoming freshmen and two transfer students that will join the Cavaliers program for the 2019 season.

"I'm looking forward to having the class on campus, especially in the fall when it comes time to report," said Fankhauser. "This class brings depth and a lot of dynamic among the young men we have signed. They have a bunch of different attributes, and just not on the field but off the field as well. This class has a lot of guys that are truly invested in the student aspect as well as the athlete part and that's something we like about this class coming in."

The class features 29 student-athletes from the Buckeye State along with one from Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Of the 31 signees, the football coaching staff signed 13 offensive players, 17 defensive players and one on the special teams unit.

On offense, there was one quarterback, one running back, three receivers, one tight end and seven lineman. For the defensive side, eight linebackers were recruited with three lineman, four safeties and two cornerbacks, establishing a great amount of depth for the program.

The 2019 season will unofficially start with the Spring Game on April 12th. Walsh will travel to Duquesne on September 7th with the home opener against Ashland one week later (September 14th) at 1:00 PM.
