Football Hosts Kentucky Wesleyan for Senior Night

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - For the final time in 2019, the Walsh Cavaliers football team will take the field at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Saturday (Nov. 2). Walsh hosts the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers under the lights for Senior Night, with kickoff at 7:30 PM. 

GAMEDAY INFORMATION

The Opening Kickoff

  • Walsh fell 7-0 at Ohio Dominican in the lowest scoring game in program history. The Panthers scored on the opening drive and that was it for the game.
  • The Cavaliers offense outgained the Panthers 251-215 despite the rainy and sloppy conditions at Panther Stadium. This was the first time all season that Walsh had outgained a team on total offense. 
  • Nick Gassman completed eight passes for 105 passing yards with one interception. In his first three games of the year, Gassman completed 20 passes for 231 yards with one passing TD and five interceptions. In his last two games since regaining the starting role, he has 19 completions for 391 yards, three passing touchdowns and two interceptions.
  • Walsh ran the ball 45 times (second-highest total rushes this season) for a total of 146 yards. Koby Adu-Poku got 22 touches for 73 yards. Ten different players rushed the ball in the game.
  • Deondre Cook caught one pass for 32 yards and Logan Lindsey made three catches for 30 yards as Gassman's top two receivers. 
  • This is the fourth matchup with KWC and the first that will occur in Canton. The first three matchups have been in Owensboro, where Walsh is 3-0.

  • Wiley Cain has completed 154 of 285 passes for 1,502 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions as true freshman. 
  • Corey Johnson is the leading rusher with 303 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 86 carries. 
  • De'Ondre Boggs has 31 catches for 369 yards and two touchdowns. 

Walsh will head on the road to West Virginia for a G-MAC matchup with the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Saturday (Nov. 9) at 1:00 PM.
