(GLENVILLE, W.Va.) – Walsh ran into a hot-shooting Glenville State team as it lost 100-73 in the season opener from the Waco Center. The Cavaliers (0-1) shot 44.3 percent from the field, but they couldn't keep up with the Pioneers (1-2) who lit the nets at a 61.7 percent success rate.
Glenville State's Brett Morris led the charge as he made his first 10 shots from the field to score a game-high 34 points. He made almost every shot he took and was perfect until his final shot of the game. By then he had seven 3-pointers and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
In addition to Morris, the Pioneers had three other players in double figures. Nady was second on the team with 17 points as he was 7-of-11 from the field with three treys.
Overall Glenville State hit 11-of-27 3-pointers. The Pioneers barely missed in the second half as they hit 25-of-36 shots for a 69.4 percent clip.
The Cavaliers will attempt to regroup for their home opener on Monday. Walsh hosts Wisconsin-Parkside in another non-conference affair with tip-off set for 7 p.m.
