(TIFFIN, Ohio) – Walsh dropped a close contest to host Tiffin by a score of 69-66 in GLIAC action Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 9-7 overall and 7-5 in the GLIAC while the Dragons improve to 9-10 overall and 5-7 within the conference.
The game was closely contested throughout as there were 16 lead changes and 11 ties. Three of those came in the final minute with Tiffin getting the go-ahead points on a layup by Tony Kynard with 22 seconds left. Walsh had a couple of opportunities to take the lead in the final seconds, but a pair of jumpers were just off the mark.
Four Cavaliers scored in double-figures led by Trey Fletcher who scored 18 points as he was 8-of-19 from the field. He also led the team in rebounds with seven. Zac Carter added 15 and Chall Montgomery scored 13. Robert Puleikis had a strong day as he was perfect from the floor with four baskets and a pair of free throws for 10 points.
Kyndard led the way for the Dragons with 27 points. He was 9-of-20 overall from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and made all seven free throw attempts.
Walsh will return to the hardwood on the road this Thursday as it heads west again to take on Findlay. Tip-off with the Oilers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Croy Gymnasium.
