(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Jesse Hardin Jr. (Sr., Warren, Ohio/Harding) scored 35 points and Zac Carter (Jr., Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) added 20, but it wasn't enough as Walsh fell to Ohio Dominican 87-81 at Alumni Hall Thursday evening. The Cavaliers fall to 11-11 overall and 9-9 in the GLIAC. The Panthers improve to 9-15 and 6-12 in the same categories.
Hardin Jr. finished the night 10-of-20 from the field and 6-of-12 from behind the arc. He added six rebounds and three assists. Carter was 5-of-11 overall. Trey Fletcher (Jr., Ironton, Ohio/Ironton) finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
Walsh started the game up 8-0, but the Panthers answered with a 19-2 run to take control. ODU led by as many as 13, but the Cavs were able to cut the deficit to 40-34 by halftime. At the end of the first half and the beginning of the second, Walsh went on a 17-3 run to take a 46-43 lead. The Panthers tied the game on a 3-pointer, then after the teams exchanged layups, the hosts took the lead for good on a score by Mike DeLeon.
The Panthers experienced a hot shooting night specifically from beyond the arc with 13 3-pointers. Overall they were 32-of-58 from the field. The Cavaliers held the rebounding advantage 36-29.
The Cavaliers remain in third place in the South Division by two games over Tiffin and Wayne State. Walsh will host Tiffin on Saturday for the Cavaliers' 33 Days 'Til St. Patrick's Day promotion. Tip-off with the Dragons is set for 3 p.m.
