Balanced Attack, Vaudrin's Triple-Double Leads Walsh By Trevecca

(NASHVILLE) – Five players scored in double-figures and Chandler Vaudrin recorded his third triple-double of the season as Walsh completed the first weekend of the new year with a 80-65 victory over Trevecca. It was the first game ever between the Cavaliers (9-3, 6-2) and Trojans (2-13, 1-6).

The Maroon and Gold led the host in almost all statistical categories. One of those was a 23-6 advantage on bench points thanks to the play of Darryl Straughter. The freshman guard came off the bench to play most of the game and made 7-of-9 with a pair of 3-pointers to lead Walsh with 18 points.

Bo Furcron completed a solid weekend with 16 points as he made 6-of-12 from the field. Sterling Christy and Conner Wess both added 14 points with Wess draining four triples.

Setting up the offense once again was Vaudrin who tallied 12 assists on the day. He added 11 points and rebounds to get the triple feature.

The Trojans' Devin Whitfield scored a game-high 33 points, but the rest of the team was held to single digits.

Walsh led for most of the game with the only exception coming midway through the first when the Trojans went on a 6-0 run to take a 16-11 lead, their largest of the day. However, the Cavs immediately responded with 19-5 run capped by an offensive rebound and put-back by Vaudrin to take control of the game.

The Cavs shot 50.8 percent (30-of-59) for the game and out-rebounded the Trojans 41-32.

Walsh now returns home to play its next four games in Stark County with three of them at home. That stretch will start a week from today against Lake Erie when the Cavs take on the Storm at 1 p.m.
