(FINDLAY, Ohio) – No. 2 Walsh fell in its G-MAC quarterfinal matchup against No. 7 Lake Erie by a score of 76-67 at Findlay's Croy Gymnasium on Thursday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 19-8 while the Storm moves on to tomorrow's semifinals at 16-13.
Chandler Vaudrin was close another triple-double as he finished with 20 points with 10 assists and eight rebounds a day after being named to the All-G-MAC First Team. He went 7-of-13 from the field. Bo Furcron was the only other Cavalier to reach double figures as he came off the bench to score 12.
Walsh trailed by four at the half, but found itself down nine before a 10-0 run gave them a 53-52 lead with 7:55 to play. The Storm answered with a 3-pointer on its next trip down the floor to regain the lead and held the Cavs at bay the rest of the way.
Lake Erie's strong second half was led by Gabe Kynard who scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the period.
The Cavs shot 41.7 percent from the field compared to 46.9 percent for the Storm. Walsh held a 37-34 edge on rebounds and 34-29 advantage in points off the bench.
