(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Mayors' Cup remains in the Cecchini Center for another year following this afternoon's 75-61 win at Malone for the 55th Annual Mayors' Cup.
The Cavaliers controlled the first half, leading from the 18:45 mark. Darryl Straughter scored 10 of his points in the first half, going 4-4 from the line while also grabbing two boards. Sterling Christy dominated the glass in the first half with eight rebounds, while scoring nine points. Branden Wilkins provided five points in four minutes off the bench, not missing from the field during the first half. Walsh ended the first half leading the Pioneers, 34-23.
The Maroon and Gold extended their lead throughout the second half. The duo of Straughter and Christy led the Cavalier's scoring. Straughter poured in 23 points on 8-12 shooting. Christy contributed 19 points on 7-10 shooting, while also dishing out seven assists. He was explosive on both ends of the floor, as he grabbed a team-best 14 rebounds, 12 of which came on the defensive end. JT Shumate battled foul trouble throughout the game, but still contributed 11 points and five rebounds to aid in the victory.
Bryce Butler led the Pioneer's offense, scoring a game-high 25 points.
