Cavs Roll Past Penn State-Altoona, 119-76

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh University men's basketball team defeated Penn St.-Altoona 119-76 on Saturday (Nov. 23), to improve their record to 5-0 on the season. The Cavaliers have now posted 100+ points three games in row, for the first time since the 2011-12 season. Walsh previously defeated Franciscan 110-52 (Nov. 12) and Wright St.-Lake 123-62 (Nov. 23). 

The Cavaliers shot 54.2 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from three, while Penn St.-Altoona only shot 38.2 from the floor and 22.9 from behind the arc. Walsh continues their hot streak from three-point range, as they connected for 19 three-pointers. 

JT Shumate led the Cavs with 21 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Darryl Straughter connected for four three's en route to 20 points, while also dishing out five assists. Sterling Christy shot 8-11 from the field for 18 points. Reece Bogan drilled five three's off the bench en route to 17 on the day. Conner Wess and Christian Montague also reached double figures with 11 and 10, respectively. Montague also dished out a game-high seven assists. 

Cameron Gardner-Nicholson led Penn St.-Altoona with 18 points. 

Walsh will head to Roberts Wesleyan for a 7 pm start time on Tuesday (Nov. 26).
