(LEXINGTON, Kentucky) - The Walsh University Men's Golf team wrapped up their 2018-19 season at the GMAC Championships in Lexington Friday and Saturday (April 19-20). The 54 hole event took place at the University Club of Kentucky where the Cavaliers finished tenth out of twelve against competing schools in the conference.
Playing in less than desirable conditions all weekend, the Cavaliers had to fight through constant downpours and cold temperatures. Brandon Netzel would lead the Cavs over the 54 hole event after he carded rounds of 73-75-77 helping him finish tied for eleventh overall in the conference. Senior Drew Savage would follow not far behind Netzel, adding rounds of 76-80-77 for the Maroon and Gold. Noah Frase finished third for the Cavs after posting rounds of 78-83-81. Mark Mokros ( 84-85-79) and Jake Barth (85-89-86) would round out the the lineup for the Cavaliers.
Trevecca Nazarene University would take home the team title after carding a team 54 hole total of 881. Blain Turner and Larken Whittemore from Trevecca would end up going head to head in a one hole playoff to decide who would walk away with the Medalist title. Blain Turner ended up defeating his teammate to capture Medalist honors.
