#16 Lindenwood Too Much for Cavaliers

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team ended their trip through Missouri with an 18-6 defeat to the #16 Lindenwood Lions on Monday (Feb. 18) afternoon.

The Lions scored the first eight goals, spanning the first ten minutes of the second quarter. Evan Bradley broke the shutout with a goal, assisted by Brydan Heisler with 5:43 left in the first half. Lindenwood closed the half with three more goals, leading 11-1 at the intermission.

Lindenwood started the second half with a goal in the first ninety seconds before the Cavaliers answered within thirty seconds. Tyler Stowell scored a man-up goal on an assist by Maurice Kelly with just over 13 minutes to go in the third. The Lions scored three times over the next 11 minutes until Walsh tallied one more goal in the quarter. Stowell scored his second goal of the day, an unassisted goal with 2:16 left in the third. Lindenwood led 15-3 going to the fourth quarter.

The 16th-ranked Lions added two goals in the fourth quarter before Walsh went on a three-goal run. Bradley scored his second of the day and Brian Apshago scored seconds later on Kelly's second assist of the afternoon. One minute later, Heisler added a man-up goal of his own off an assist from Preston Coffman. The Lions closed out the scoring late, winning the game 18-6.

Bradley and Stowell each had two goal days while Kelly had his second two-assist game in as many games. Jake Selvage had four groundballs while Gabe Brown had three groundballs and three caused turnovers. Jake Cieszynski won ten faceoffs and led the team with six groundballs. Brent Mitchell had two caused turnovers of his own.

Patrick Cuddihy made 17 saves in the net for the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers will travel to Roberts Wesleyan for a non-conference battle with the Redhawks on Saturday (Feb. 23) afternoon.
