(CANTON, Ohio) – The first of two contests with Malone went to the bitter rivals to the south as Walsh fell 1-0 in G-MAC play at Canton Central Catholic's Lowell Klinefelter Field Saturday evening. The Cavaliers fell back to even at 3-3-1 on the season while the Pioneers are now 2-5.
The goal came late in the contest as the Pioneers countered a Walsh attack. Evan Dekker was able to find Gino Finelli who headed it in at 75:56 despite Malone playing down a man. Walsh had opportunities afterwards to equalize, but the four shots taken were blocked, wide, and high.
After a slow first half, the Cavaliers came out firing in the second with 12 shots and outshot the Pioneers 16-11 in the game. The Cavs also held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks as well.
Walsh will be back in action Thursday as it hosts Davis & Elkins with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff following the women's game at 5.
