INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - With the men's soccer team on a preseason training trip in Canada, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference has announced the results of the Great Midwest Men's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour on Friday (August 16).
Walsh was chosen to finish ninth in the conference as voted on by the head coaches as they received 27 votes among the 11 programs.
The Cavaliers ended the 2018 season with a 7-10-1 overall record and a 4-9-1 conference mark.
Reigning conference champion Tiffin was slotted to repeat, followed by Cedarville and Ohio Valley as the top three. Lake Erie, Alderson Broaddus and Ohio Dominican rank fourth through sixth in the poll. Trevecca Nazarene and Findlay are seventh and eighth before Walsh in the rankings. Malone and Kentucky Wesleyan round out the 11 teams in the conference.
Eight teams will look to qualify for the 2019 G-MAC Men's Soccer Tournament, held at Roger Glass Stadium in Dayton from November 9th through the 16th.
The 2019 season will begin in New York on September 5th as the Cavaliers travel to face Roberts Wesleyan. The home opener will be September 14th against Slippery Rock.
