NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The first matchup between the Walsh Cavaliers and Malone Pioneers went 110 minutes in September, with a 1-1 draw as the result. Tuesday's (Nov. 5) regular season finale was no different as the Cavaliers and Pioneers battled to a scoreless draw at Milazzo Field.
The Cavaliers outshot the Pioneers 7-2 in the first half but could not break through with a goal. The second half saw 18 shots between the two teams, as Malone had the 10-8 advantage but the game still remained scoreless.
The two overtime periods only saw four total shots as Walsh took two in the first overtime and one in the second overtime.
Brett Ekperuoh made nine saves in goal for his third shutout of the year.
With the draw, Walsh finished the regular season 10-5-3 overall and 6-5-3 in the G-MAC. They are the fifth seed in the upcoming tournament, as they travel to Tiffin on Saturday (Nov. 9) for a quarterfinal matchup with the Dragons. The quarterfinal will be at 2:00 PM.
