Last Minute Goal Drops Cavaliers, 2-1

TIFFIN, Ohio - The #5 seeded Walsh Cavaliers men's soccer team took on the #4 seeded Tiffin Dragons in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference Quarterfinal on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon at Paradiso Fields. 

Tiffin defeated the Cavaliers 2-1 on a goal within the final minute, eliminating the Cavaliers from the tournament. 

Tiffin opened a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute and carried that advantage into halftime.

Alex Jackson sent the equalizer past the Dragons' keeper in the 68th minute on an assist from Myles Cornwall

The game was knotted at one until the final minute of the game, when Tiffin took the 2-1 lead with 49 seconds left on the clock. 

Tiffin took 17 shots with eight of them on goal, compared to ten shots (five on goal) for the Cavaliers. 

Brett Ekperuoh made five saves in goal and allowed two goals.

Walsh will wait and see what the regional rankings say for the NCAA Tournament. The Cavaliers were tenth in the Super Region 3 rankings, entering the week. Three automatic qualifiers will come from the region and seven at larges.
