Track & Field Announces Summer Camp Details

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers track and field program has released details for an upcoming camp held on June 17-18 on campus. Please read the details below and sign up at the following link if interested.

Description: Boys and Girls Entering 7th Grade and Above

This is a learn-by-doing day camp designed to instruct track and field athletes of all skill levels entering grade 7 and above the fundamentals of proper technique as well as drills and cues they can use well beyond this camp experience to enhance their individual development. The camp will be broken into event groups for Throws (Shot Put/Discus only), Jumps (Long Jump/High Jump only), Sprints, and Hurdles.

This is not an overnight camp. For more information for local accommodations please contact Coach Jakmides. Campers will receive a lunch on campus and a camp t-shirt which is guaranteed for all campers who register before the June 7th deadline. Those registering after the June 7th deadline will receive a camp t-shirt based on availability. Coaches and family members are welcomed and encouraged to purchase camp shirts as well but must contact Coach Jakmides prior to June 7th with sizes.

Coaches are welcome to observe camp at no cost but will not be provided lunches. Coaches are encouraged to ask questions so long as it does not distract from the coaching of campers.

All attendees must return a completed Walsh Athletic Camp Medical Packet to Coach Jakmides prior to participation. Please download the form here and return to jjakmides@walsh.edu.

What to bring: Event shoes, implements (implements WILL NOT be provided by the camp), pen and pad for recording coaching cues, plenty of water, and a positive attitude!

Day One – Monday, June 17

8:30-9:00 Sign-in/Registration in Lobby of Cecchini Center
9:00-9:30 Break into event groups for Warm Ups
9:30-11:30 Primary Event Drills and Workout
11:30-1:00 Lunch Break and Q&A with Coach Jakmides regarding Strength and Conditioning
1:00-1:30 Break into event groups for Warm Ups
1:30-3:00 Secondary Event Drills and Workout

Day Two – Tuesday, June 18

8:30-9:00 Sign-in/Registration in Lobby of Cecchini Center
9:00-9:30 Break into event groups for Warm Ups
9:30-11:30 Primary Event Drills and Workout
11:30-1:00 Lunch Break and Q&A with Coach Herstine on Collegiate Track and Field
1:00-1:30 Break into event groups for Warm-Up
1:30-3:00 Secondary Event Drills and Workout

Cost: $65/person per day or $100/person for both days
Late Registration (After June 7): $75 per day or $125 for both days
**Each camper will receive a Walsh University T-shirt and lunch each day.
