(PITTSBURGH) – The Walsh men's cross country team took on some stiff competition and finished sixth in the Pre-National meet hosted by Slippery Rock a Schenley Park in the Steel City Saturday. The Cavaliers finished with a team total of 169.
Coloradio Mines cruised to the win with 19 points with four runners in the top five and the fifth finishing in eighth. Mount Olive and Queens (N.C.) tied for second with 126.
Noah Murray was the first Cavalier to cross the finish line and did so at the 25:56 mark with a split of 5:14. He finished 17th overall and was followed by Jacob Kernell with a time of 26:03 in 19th position.
Another pair of Jacobs, Caniford and Turner Jr., were third and fourth for the Cavs. Caniford finished 27th with a time of 26:22, while Turner Jr. was 52nd with a time of 26:49. The team scoring was completed by Tyler Pace with a time of 26:58 in 58th position.
The Cavs will return to competition in a couple of weeks when they host the G-MAC Championships. Those races will be held at GlenOak High School at 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Nov. 3.
