Men's XC Takes Fourth at NCAA Midwest Regional

EVANSVILLE, Indiana - The #23rd ranked Walsh Cavaliers men's cross country team finished fourth in the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon at Angel Mounds in Evansville, Indiana. 

As the fourth place finisher of the 31 teams, Walsh will await the at-large qualifications on Monday to determine if they make it to Nationals in two weeks in Sacramento, California.

"I could not have been more proud of how our teams performed today," said Walsh head coach Rob Mizicko. "We came into the meet excited, focused, and ready to race. Both our women and men have worked extremely hard for opportunities like today. To race your best when it counts the most is a credit to our young women and men that put on the Walsh Uniform!"

The Cavaliers had three runners in the top 25 and had all five scorers in the top 53 runners. 

The three runners in the top 25 earned All-Regional Team honors for their performances. Noah Murray finished seventh overall with a time of 31:40.2 while Drew Roberts crossed the line in 21st overall with a final time of 32:18.0. Jacob Caniford rounded out the All-Regional Team in 23rd after he completed the 10K in 32:22.3. 

The fourth place finisher for the Cavaliers was Jay Lutton as he was 43rd overall with a 33:11.5 time. Jared Bugaj finished 53rd, ten seconds behind Lutton. Ed Walsh was the sixth runner for Walsh to cross the line in 58th place, running the race in 33:24.0. Beau Boyden capped the day in 80th place for Walsh, running a 33:52.7. 

The at-large selections will be announced on Monday on and the Walsh Athletics website.
