(BIG RAPIDS, Mich.) – The Walsh softball team's win streak was snapped as it was swept by Ferris State by scores of 2-1 in eight innings and 3-1 this afternoon. The Cavaliers are 12-31 on the season and 2-16 in the conference, while the Bulldogs improved to 16-20 overall and 9-9 in the conference.
In the opener, Kendra Moore singled up the middle to score Jenna head in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 1-1. A pair of errors allowed Ferris State to take the win, however, as the Bulldogs capitalized on miscues in the eighth for the game-winning run.
Olivia Pifer was exceptional despite the loss as she struck out eight.
In game two, Ferris State scored all three of its runs in the top of the third. Walsh was able to answer with one in the sixth, but the rally attempt fell short as it left the bases loaded. Leah Roten brought in the lone run on a double to center that allowed Annie Dehnke to score.
Walsh will play its final road games of the season tomorrow at Grand Valley State. First pitch is set for noon.
