Walsh Falls To Grand Valley

(ALLENDALE, Mich.) – The Walsh softball team battled Grand Valley State in both games today, but were shutout in both games by scores of 2-0 in eight innings and 3-0. The Cavaliers dropped to 12-33 overall and 2-18 in the GLIAC. The Lakers improved to 27-15 and 13-5.

In the opener, a pitchers' duel took place. Olivia Pifer pitched a gem as she allowed just four hits in the game and struck out four in 7.2 innings. However, Grand Valley's Allison Lipovsky kept the Walsh bats at bay with just two hits. The Lakers eventually scored the game's only runs on a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth.

The Lakers scored solo runs in the first, third, and seventh innings to take the sweep in game two.

Yasmine Rivera and Kirsten Reed both had two hits on the day to lead the Cavaliers offense.

The Cavaliers will close the season out this Friday at home against Lake Erie.
