(MRYTLE BEACH, S.C.)- Walsh (11-5) split on their final day in Myrtle Beach losing to Glenville State (6-7) 4-3 and beating Briar Cliff (3-12) 6-0.
In Game One Walsh trailed early and was not able to complete the comeback. Oliva Pifer knocked in the first run of the game for the Cavaliers in the fourth inning. A double by Annie Woolf and triple by Jessie Rock are what lead to the other two Walsh runs. Rock was 3-4 with a triple and RBI.
Shelbi Gregg (2-2) took the loss for the Cavaliers giving up two hits and two earned runs.
The Cavaliers got back in the win column in Game Two. Walsh scored early when Woolf hit a single scoring Alex Depue. Danni Murtaugh's double in the fourth scored Abbey Yaugher to give Walsh an insurance run. Walsh was able to push another run in the fifth on a Brooke Six triple. Walsh ended the game with a three run seventh inning after a Leah Roten triple, Rock double, and a sacrifice fly by Six.
Olivia Pifer picked up her seventh win of the season and her fifth win in Myrtle Beach. She struck out five and scattered five hits in the shutout victory.
The Cavaliers take on Davenport in their home opener next Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
