(NORTH CANTON, OHIO)- Walsh (11-7) dropped a pair in their home opener to Davenport (15-6) by scores of 12-1 and 7-6.
Walsh played from behind in Game One giving up five runs in the first inning. Abbey Yaugher had the first hit of the game in second inning hitting double to left field with two outs. Jessie Rock was responsible for the lone run for the Cavaliers. Rock sent a line drive over the left field fence for her first homerun of the season. Olivia Pifer took the loss in circle going 3.1 innings striking out five.
The Cavaliers fought back in Game Two staying with the Panthers all game. The Cavaliers got it going offensively in the fourth after singles by Rock and Annie Woolf. Brooke Six singled up the middle to score pinch runner Cali Frascone. A sacrifice fly by Yaugher scored pinch runner Katie Gray to cut the Panther lead to 5-2.
Walsh cut Davenport's lead to one in the fifth after a double by Leah Roten scored Manor who reached on an error. Woolf hit a three-run homerun scoring Roten and Rock who reached on a single to left.
Shelbi Gregg started in the circle for the Cavaliers giving up five runs and scattering five hits over 3.1 innnings.
The Maroon and Gold are back in action Tuesday at home for a doubleheader against the University of Indianapolis starting at 3 p.m.
