(DETROIT, MICH.)- The Cavaliers (11-9) were swept by old Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic opponent Wayne State (15-6) in a mid-week double header by scores of 3-0 and 11-1.
In Game One, Walsh was held to only one hit. Hailey Warren singled to left center in the fourth inning but was not able to come around to score. The Cavaliers had a chance in the second. Annie Woolf led off the inning with a walk followed by a sacrifice by Brooke Six to move Woolf to second. A pass ball put Woolf on third with one out, but the Cavaliers couldn't capitalize.
Shelbi Gregg (2-4) started the game for the Cavaliers going 3.1 innings scattering eight hits and giving up three runs.
The Cavaliers were unable to get their offense going in the nightcap. With their backs against the wall in the fifth, the Cavaliers were able to get on the board with a sacrifice fly by Kirsten Reed scoring Leah Roten. Roten reached on a walk earlier that inning. Annie Dehnke had two of the three hits for the Cavaliers reaching base with two doubles.
Olivia Pifer took the loss in the circle going 1.1 innings giving up four runs on six hits.
The Cavaliers open up Great Midwest Athletic Conference play Friday against Ohio Valley with the double header starting at 3 p.m.
