(NORTH CANTON, OHIO)- Walsh (16-12, 5-3) split with Cedarville (17-11, 6-2) on a snowy night at the Walsh Softball Complex. The Cavaliers took the opener 5-2 and lost the nightcap 4-0.
The Cavaliers got off to a quick start in Game One scoring a run off the bat of Jessie Rock who doubled down the left field line. Alex Depue scored on the play after reaching on a single to lead off the game. Rock singled in the third to break the 2-2 tie scoring Leah Roten who was able to cross to home plate by way of an error by the centerfield. Annie Woolf added two insurance runs with a two-run homerun to left scoring Katie Gray who was pinch running for Rock.
Olivia Pifer (10-5) picked up her tenth win in the circle throwing a complete game. Pifer struck out six while giving up eight hits.
Walsh was held to two hits in Game Two. With two outs in the fourth Jessie Rock doubled to right center. Woolf tried to get things going in the seventh with a single up the middle but the Cavs were unable to keep the momentum going.
Katie Herrick took the loss in her first decision of the season. She struck out one giving up four hits over two innings of work. Shelbi Gregg threw the remaining five innings for the Cavs striking out four.
Jessie Rock was 4-6 on the day with a pair of doubles and singles with a pair of RBI.
The Maroon and Gold are back in action tomorrow as the travel up north to take on Hillsdale. The first pitch of the double header is schedule for 3:30 p.m.
