(SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO)- Walsh (18-18, 7-9) split their midweek double header with Ursuline (11-21-1, 6-7-1) on a brisk sunny afternoon at Notre Dame College. The Cavaliers are currently sitting in eighth place in the GMAC standings with eight league games left to play.
Walsh was able to pick up the extra inning victory in Game One. The Cavaliers had to play from behind after the Arrows jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Yasmine Rivera led off the third inning with a walk and with two outs Jessie Rock singled through the left side to put Cavalier runners on first and second. Annie Woolf doubled to left center scoring Rivera and Rock. The Arrows tied the game in the fourth. Alaina Manor led off the eighth inning with a single to left. A bunt single by Rock allowed Manor to score all the way from first on an error by the second baseman.
Olivia Pifer (12-7) went the distance in the circle for the Cavs. Pifer struck out nine while scattering thirteen hits and two runs.
In Game Two, Brooke Six got the Cavaliers on the scoreboard with a double to left field in the fifth inning scoring Rock and Annie Woolf. Rock reached earlier that inning on a fielder's choice and Woolf reached on a single. Leah Roten and Alex Depue were both 2-4.
Ryan Kuula (4-2) got the start in the circle throwing two innings. She struck out two while surrendering six hits and four runs. Shelbi Gregg came in to throw the final four innings giving up three hits while striking out one.
The Maroon and Gold are back in action tomorrow at home against Davis & Elkins. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
