(NORTH CANTON, OHIO)- The Cavaliers (19-19, 8-10) split with the Oilers (24-17, 14-2) on Senior Day. Findlay is currently sitting in first place in the GMAC. The Cavaliers took the opener 5-0 and dropped the night cap 14-2.
Walsh was able to get on the board first inning with Abbey Yaugher clearing the bases with a two out double to right field. Scoring on the play was Jessie Rock, Annie Woolf and Brooke Six. The Cavaliers scored twice on a walk by Alaina Manor. Depue was on second when ball four got away from the Oiler catcher. In attempted to get Depue out at third the throw ended up in left field. The error allowed Depue to score and Manor to travel around the bases to score from first.
Walsh jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Game Two in the second inning. Hailey Warren's pinched hit single with two outs scored Danni Murtaugh. Depue hit a hard shot to first resulting in an Oiler error allowing Katie Gray to score. The Cavaliers were unable to get the offense going in the final four innings.
In what might be her last time pitching on her home field, Olivia Pifer (13-8) threw the bulk of the innings for the Cavaliers today. She picked up the complete game shutout victory in Game One striking out six and scattering four hits. She took the loss in Game Two giving up six hits in five innings.
The Maroon and Gold close out the regular season with a pair of games down South taking on Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday and Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CDT on Friday.
