(OWENSBURG, KEN.)- The Cavaliers (20-20, 9-11) split with Kentucky Wesleyan (23-24, 11-12). The Cavaliers are still sitting in eighth place with two more regular season games to play.
Walsh drops a heart breaker in Game One in ten innings. Brooke Six got the Cavaliers on the board first after a homerun to left field in the second inning. The Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the third to go ahead. Alex Depue singled in the sixth scoring Leah Roten to bring the Cavs within one. With three outs remaining to tie the game up, Jessie Rock launched a homerun to left field to tie up the game in the seventh. Kentucky Wesleyan ended up scoring in bottom of the tenth with the international tie breaker in affect.
Olivia Pifer (13-9) threw all nine innings in the circle allowing ten hits, three earned runs and striking out five.
Game Two was a hit parade for both teams with Walsh recording 15 hits and Kentucky Weseleyan with 16. Walsh jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first. Depue led off the game with a single and was able to come around to score on a double by Rock. Six followed with an RBI single. Abbey Yaugher doubled to left center to score Six. Rachel Rittelmann singled to score Yaugher. Walsh added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Cavaliers close out the regular season tomorrow at Trevecca Nazarene. First pitch is set for 11 CST.
