(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced the 2018 NFCA Division II All-Region teams. This year's squads are comprised of 207 student-athletes from 120 programs.
Of those 207, Walsh's Jessie Rock was named to the Second Team in the Midwest Region at the catcher position. Last week, she was named the G-MAC's Freshman of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference selection.
Rock blasted onto the scene for the Maroon and Gold as the team's catcher and provided a big boost to the offense. She was third in the conference with a .433 batting average and started in all 42 games. She led the league in slugging percentage with a mark of .738, doubles with 19, and total bases with 104.
She was also near the top in many other categories. She was third in on-base percentage at .459, fourth with 61 hits, fourth with 36 RBI, and tied for seventh in home runs and two shy of the league-high with six.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
