INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The final women's basketball Great Midwest Player of the Week were announced on Monday (March 11) and the Walsh Cavaliers were represented for the third time.
Freshman Quionche Carter was named Athlete of the Week for the week of the conference tournament.
For the week, Carter averaged 21 points, six rebounds and two steals per game while shooting 55%.
Carter scored 63 points in the Cavaliers' three games during the G-MAC Tournament. Carter scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Trevecca Nazarene. Against Hillsdale, Carter tallied 22 points with five rebounds and one steal. In the final against Kentucky Wesleyan, she finished the game with 26 points on 12-of-15 shooting.
Overall this season, Carter was second in the conference with 16.9 points per game, while shooting 51.4% from the floor and grabbing six rebounds a game.
The women's team is NCAA Tournament bound for the first time since joining Division II after winning the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament. The women's basketball team will play Lewis at 2:30 PM on Friday (March 15) at Drury University.
