Cavaliers Win 6 Matches, Finish 2nd at Grapevine Classic

ERIE, Pennsylvania - The Walsh Cavaliers women's bowling team opened the 2019-20 season this weekend at the Grapevine Classic at Eastland Bowl. 

Over the course of 50 games, Walsh finished second with 8,296 total pins and a 6-4 overall record. 

Traditional Format

Saturday (Oct. 12) saw the Cavs bowl five traditional matches with five individual games. Walsh went 4-1 in those matches, winning the "Traditional Format" of the event. 

  • W, 890-610 vs. Pitt-Bradford
  • W, 863-781 vs. Penn State-Behrend
    • MacKenzie Corrin had the highest Walsh game with a 183.
  • W, 826-784 vs. Roberts Wesleyan
    • VanNatten bowled the high game of 187.
  • L, 833-750 vs. Villa Maria
  • W, 846-802 vs. Roberts Wesleyan
    • VanNatten bowled her best game of the weekend, a 212, in the final traditional game of the day.

VanNatten finished the tournament as the bowler with the highest average and total pinfall in Saturday's matches. She averaged 186.6 per game with 933 total pins. Kiss had the fifth highest average (184) on 920 total pins. Abby Moore bowled a high game of 180 as she was 11th in the standings with a 168.6 average. 

Baker Format

Sunday (Oct. 13) featured five Baker style matches, where each team bowled five Baker games in a match. The Cavaliers had a record of 2-3 in those contests.

Through 25 Baker games, Walsh averaged 164.84 per game. 

The Cavaliers will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on Saturday (Oct. 19) and Sunday (Oct. 20) at the Western Bowl.
