Women's Golf Adds Transfer From Spain

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Head women's golf coach Christina Paone has announced the addition of Maria Contreras Luna, a transfer from Malaga, Spain to the program for the 2019-20 school year. 

Contreras Luna comes to North Canton following an accomplished golf career in Spain and one year at Seton Hall University.

She won the Andalusian Doubles Championship last year and finished runner-up three straight times before winning. In the Andalusian Individuals Championship, Contreras Luna won the U12 and U14 titles while finishing second in the U16 and U25 categories. She was 4th in the U14 Spanish Championship and she won the Spanish Championship U16 Pitch & Putt Category. She was a part of the Andalusian team when they won the U14 Spanish Interterritorial Championship. She placed second at three U25 competitions, the International Championship of Andalusia Women's Doubles San Rogue, the Andalusian International Women's Championship U25 WAGR El Chaparral and the Sotogrande International Young Talents Troph6y U25 WAGR La Reserva de Sotogrande.

In her first year at Seton Hill, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team with a GPA of 3.936. Contreras Luna finished high school at IES Monterroso with a Top 10 GPA of 3.79.
