Women's Golf Captures Phipps Title

(NORTH CANTON, OHIO) - The Walsh University Women's Golf Team captured the annual Phipps Memorial Golf Invite Title Monday at Glenmoor Country Club. The annual event is a tri-way match between both Men's and Women's programs from Walsh, Malone and Mount Union. 

For the Cavaliers, both Madison Ardelean and Maria Contreras Luna would finished tied for second place overall after firing rounds of 77. This would be both of their season best overall finishes. Ardelean would end the season with a scoring average of 79 while Contreras Luna would end her Fall with an average of 79.36. Isabelle Castro added an 83 for the Cavs on Monday. She would also end the season with a scoring average under 80, with a 79.55. All three Cavaliers would have a strong hand in the Maroon and Gold success this Fall.

Rounding out the lineup for the Cavaliers was sophomore Alexis Green and freshmen Francesca Sberna adding scores of 87 and 93 respectively. Other Cavaliers competing in the event as individuals were Grace Thompson(85), Francesca Ciraci(94) Nikki Selzer(100) and Kendra Kearns(104).

The Cavaliers have the winter off and will open the Spring season back up in March when they host the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff at Saddlebrook Golf & Spa Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
