(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its weekly honors and Walsh's Mikaela Faus has been named Defensive Player of the Week in women's lacrosse. The junior goalkeeper helped the Maroon and Gold to a pair of wins in West Virginia to help keep the Cavaliers unbeaten in the conference.
On Saturday, Faus played the duration in a 9-7 victory over Alderson Broaddus. She made seven saves on 20 shots faced. In addition to that, she was credited with five caused turnovers and 11 ground balls.
The very next day she got the start in goal against Davis & Elkins and played the first half. She allowed just two goals and made three saves on six shots faced. She added two more ground balls in the big 17-5 defeat of the Senators.
Faus improved to 4-1 on the season with almost 300 minutes logged at the position. She and the Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday when they host Lake Erie in a battle between the lone remaining unbeaten teams in the conference. The game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
