(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Emma Armour scored her 100th career goal and led Walsh to a 14-2 victory over Alderson Broaddus in G-MAC action on Thursday evening. The senior totaled four goals on the day with one assist as the Cavaliers (8-4, 5-2) swept the season series with the Battlers (3-10, 2-5).
The Maroon and Gold never trailed in the contest and were only threatened early when Alderson Broaddus scored just over 10 minutes into the game to make the score 2-1. However, the Cavaliers answered with an 11-0 run that stretched through the majority of the game.
All four of Armour's goals took place during that stretch, specifically in the first half. Two of them came when Walsh was down a player. In the second half, Lane Brunkala anchored the offense as all three of her goals came during that period.
Perhaps more impressive than the offense was the play of the defense. Goalkeeper Mikaela Faus was the backbone of that and made a career-high 17 saves while limiting the Battlers to a season-low two goals. The junior keeper also caused three turnovers and picked up five ground balls to help her cause as well.
The Cavaliers will now close the home season against Davis & Elkins on Saturday at noon. A win would guarantee Walsh its first winning season in program history.
