  • Berger, Carter Named 16-17 Athletes of the Year

    The votes are in and Sarah Berger and Zac Carter have been selected as the 2016-17 Walsh University Athletes of the Year. It’s the third consecutive year Berger has been honored as she continues to cement her legacy as a Cavalier. Carter had a season for the record books and accomplished feats not seen for many years at Walsh.
  • NSCAA Names Walsh Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Platinum Award Recipients

    The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award recipients for the Fall 2016 high school season and 2016 college season. The awards recognize a total of 164 teams across the country for exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game.
  • Berger, Peters, Strausbaugh and Mallets Earn Postseason Honors

    More postseason honors have come in for the women’s soccer team as the National Soccer Coaches Association of American as well as the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association have released accolades.

    Sarah Berger continues to add honors to her stellar career as she was recently named to the 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division II Women’s All-Midwest Region Team. She was a Third Team selection as a defender.

    A late second half goal ended Walsh’s season as it fell to Michigan Tech by a 1-0 score in the GLIAC Tournament semifinals at Grand Valley State on Friday evening. The Cavaliers end the year at 10-6-4 while the Huskies move on to Sunday’s final with a 12-3-3 mark.

    The Walsh women’s soccer team’s win Tuesday night sends it on to the semifinals tomorrow as it travels to Grand Valley State to play Michigan Tech on Friday. Walsh's 2-1 win over Ashland was its first playoff win since the 1998 season when the Cavaliers advanced to the AMC Tournament Championship.

    The Walsh women’s soccer team returns to the GLIAC Tournament today as the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 2 Ashland for a quarterfinal contest. The Cavaliers enter the contest at 9-5-4 overall while the Eagles stand at 10-2-4.

    Brianna Sanborn’s goal with 2:01 to go pushed No. 7 Walsh to a 2-1 upset over No. 2 Ashland in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers (10-5-4) now move on to the semifinals where they will face No. 3 Michigan Tech on Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Swift Scores GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

    The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly women's soccer awards after the final week of the regular season. Walsh sophomore midfielder Corynne Swift earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
  • Cavs Clinch Playoff Bid With Shutout of Storm

    With a playoff bid on the line, Walsh easily punched its ticket to the postseason with a 4-0 shutout of Lake Erie on Friday evening at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers (9-5-4, 4-4-3) left no doubt to the outcome of the game with a barrage of three goals late in the first half to inundate the Storm (7-10, 2-9).
  • Cavs Draw With ODU, Remain In Hunt For Playoffs

    Regulation and overtime wasn’t enough for Walsh and Ohio Dominican as both teams battled to a 1-1 draw in GLIAC action Sunday afternoon. It was the fourth tie of the season for the Cavaliers (8-5-4, 3-4-3) and fifth for the Panthers (5-6-5, 4-3-3).

    An early goal ended the Walsh women’s soccer team’s shutout streak held up to hand the Cavaliers a 1-0 defeat to Findlay on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 8-5-3 overall and 3-4-2 in the conference.

    For the third game in a row, Walsh shut out its opponent as Dani Shambaugh made five saves on the day. However the Cavaliers were shutout as well as they recorded a 0-0 draw with Michigan Tech Sunday afternoon.

    Sarah Berger’s goal in the 86th minute gave Walsh an important 1-0 victory over visiting Northern Michigan in GLIAC action on a chilly Friday evening at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers improved to 7-4-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference with the win.

    The Walsh women’s soccer team earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award with a team GPA of 3.54. This is an award for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year, to qualify a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

    Walsh fell to Saginaw Valley State by a score of 3-1 on the road in GLIAC action on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers are 6-3-1 overall and even in the conference at 2-2.

    Olivia Peters scored two goals on a pair of assists from Alexis Meffert to lead Walsh to a 2-0 shutout of hosting Northwood on Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers end September with a 6-2 record overall and are 2-1 in the GLIAC.

    Brianna Sanborn had a breakout game as she scored a hat trick in Walsh’s 4-1 win against Tiffin Friday afternoon. Not only did she have a hat trick, but all three scores, and all four of Walsh’s goals for that matter, came within the first 16:30 of action.

    Olivia Peters’ sixth goal of the season gave Walsh a 1-0 win over hosting Lake Erie in both teams’ GLIAC opener Sunday afternoon.

    Walsh marks its third win on the season by defeating Point Park Friday night. The Cavs took down their former conference rival 3-1.
  • Roberts Wesleyan Deals Walsh First Loss 1-0

    Walsh suffered its first defeat of the season as visiting Roberts Wesleyan used a second half goal to guide it to a 1-0 win. The Cavaliers are now 2-1-1 on the year while the Redhawks found their first win of the year and are now 1-2-1.
