(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Walsh's shutout-streak to start the season came to an end at the hands, or feet, of the opponent that ended its season a year ago in Ohio Dominican. A goal by the Panthers (3-1, 2-0) early in the second half was all it took as the Cavaliers (3-1, 2-1) fell 1-0 on the day.
The score came in the 53rd minute as ODU's Becca Gordon found the back of the net for the first time this season on an assist from Samantha Buck.
Head Coach Dave Renard's crew did have some excellent opportunities to score and outshot the hosts 15-10 overall in the game, but all seven strikes on target were saved. The Panthers had two additional shots on goal that were saved by McClanahan. Walsh also held an 8-5 lead in corner kicks
Walsh now preps for the first contest against rival Malone this season. The Cavaliers and Pioneers will square off on Thursday at 7 p.m.
