Balanced Offense, Stout Defense Lead To 5-0 Shutout Of Senators

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Four second half goals highlighted Walsh's 5-0 win over Davis & Elkins at Milazzo Field on a muggy Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (4-2-1, 3-1-1) got back into the win column as five different players scored goals and six different players recorded assists in the win against the Senators.

Holding a 1-0 lead at the half thanks to a Madalyn Canter score on assists from Hannah Bowman and Emily Joyce, the Maroon and Gold quickly put the game out of reach with three goals in a seven-minute span in the second half.

Tarah McCausland started the rally with a shot off a one-on-one opportunity from the left side on a helper from Brianna Sanborn to make it 2-0 in the 60th minute. Two minutes later, Sanborn scored on a header from a Corynne Swift corner kick. Brooke Bowser capped the outburst in the 66th minute on an assist from Olivia Peters.

Alexis Meffert put the final touches on the game with a goal on a touch from Natalie Dignan in the 89th minute.

Mickey McClanahan returned to the positive end of a clean sheet for her 11th shutout of her career. She made three saves on four shots faced during the day as Walsh's defense shut down another opponent.

The Cavs outshot the Senators 20-4 overall in the game and led in the corner kick department 7-0.

Walsh will return to action on Saturday as it hosts Alderson Broaddus. Kickoff with the Battlers is set for 5 p.m.
