(OWENSBORO, Ky.) – A hat trick by Olivia Peters highlighted a dominating 8-3 win by Walsh over Kentucky Wesleyan to conclude the furthest road trip of the regular season on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (8-3-1, 7-2-1) wasted little time getting started as they scored two goals against the Panthers (4-6-1, 3-5-1) in the first 6:54 of action.
Those two goals were also scored within 14 seconds of each other as Peters provided the first on an assist from Erica Hafer 6:40 into the game. The onslaught continued as Brianna Sanborn scored on Madalyn Canter's assist for the second goal.
Seven minutes later, Peters found the back of the net for the second time on an assist from Corynne Swift to make it 3-0.
Once the second half started, Peters once again was quick to complete the feat with an assist from Sanborn at 49:53.
The Panthers made a late rally and scored three consecutive goals in the final third, but Walsh was able to keep control of the game and secured the win with one final goal by Bowser via Sydney Santaguida.
The Maroon and Gold will face perhaps its toughest contest of the year as they travel down I-77 to take on preseason G-MAC favorite Ohio Valley on Saturday.
