(VIENNA, W.Va.)- The Cavaliers traveled to Ohio Valley to take on perhaps the toughest team in the conference. The Ohio Valley Fighting Scots (10-2-3, 9-1-1) were the G-MAC favorite entering the season, while Walsh (9-3-1, 8-2-1) was ranked third in the preseason poll. The Cavs handed OVU its first conference loss of the season.
The Cavs were down at the half after a late first-half goal (31:25) by Ohio Valley's Paula Valbuena. Walsh rallied in the second half, shutting out Ohio Valley and scoring two goals of their own. The first Cavalier goal was scored by Hannah Bowman, unassisted, at the 65:31 mark. Alisha Himes followed suite with the second goal, assisted by Madalyn Canter at the 77:37 mark.
The Walsh offense proved dominant with 18 shots on goal, compared to Ohio Valley's 15 shots on goal. Mickey McClanahan provided goalie duties, with 5 saves on the day.
The Cavaliers will return home on Thursday to face Lake Erie at 7 p.m.
