(INDIANAPOLIS) – The first regional polls for NCAA Division II women's soccer were released today and Walsh debuted in the No. 9 spot. The top eight teams in each region make the national tournament with the winner of the G-MAC Tournament getting an automatic bid.
Head Coach Dave Renard's crew enters this week with a record of 9-3-1 overall and in the region. The Cavaliers will complete their regular season with three games at home starting with Lake Erie tomorrow at 7 p.m. From there, Walsh will host Ursuline for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. and close the regular season with arch rival Malone at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Walsh has already guaranteed itself a spot in the G-MAC Tournament, however the location of it has yet to be determined. The top four seeds will host a quarterfinal game with the highest seed remaining afterwards serving as the host for the semifinals and finals.
Grand Valley State currently leads the Midwest rankings at No. 1 with an overall record of 14-0-1 and 13-0-1 in the region. Ferris State is No. 2 at 12-1-2, Saginaw Valley State is No. 3 at 10-2-2, McKendree is No. 4 at 10-2-1, and Ashland is No. 5 at 8-2-4.
Bellarmine comes in at No. 6 with a record of 7-4-3, fellow G-MAC member Ohio Valley sits in seventh at 10-2-3, and Maryville (Mo.) is eighth at 7-3-3. The G-MAC completes the top 10 with Trevecca in the final spot at 9-3-2.
