(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Brianna Sanborn scored a hat trick and led Walsh to a 4-1 over Ursuline on Senior Day at Milazzo Field Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (11-3-1, 10-2-1) have now their last four games and outscored their opponents 21-5 in that stretch.
The scoring started early after the Arrows (5-9-1, 4-8-1) were called for a handball in the box which resulted in a penalty kick for Walsh. Olivia Peters was called upon to take it and put it right down the middle for a quick 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the game.
That score held up through halftime until Sanborn scored in the 53rd minute on an assist from Tarah McCausland. She added her second just over three minutes later for a 3-0 lead.
Ursuline attempted to rally with a goal in the 81st minute, but Sanborn put the final touches of the win with an assist from Sydney Santaguida in the final minute.
Walsh dominated on offense once again and outshot Ursuline 18-6. Corner kicks also favored the Maroon and Gold 3-0. Defensively Mickey McClanahan picked up the win between the pipes with three saves.
The Cavs now stand in third place in the conference with one game to go in the regular season. That game will take place on Tuesday when they host Malone at 7:30 p.m.
