NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The #2 seeded Walsh Cavaliers women's soccer team knew what they were up against in the Great Midwest Women's Soccer Quarterfinal as they faced the seventh seeded Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon at Milazzo Field. In the previous matchup, Kentucky Wesleyan defeated the Cavaliers 4-1 in Kentucky.
Saturday saw a different story as Walsh avenged the regular season loss with a 1-0 win on a goal by senior Olivia Peters in the 80th minute.
The game was scoreless for nearly eighty minutes before Peters beat the keeper with a top shelf goal in the right corner of the goal. That was the tenth goal of the season for Peters and the eighth of the game-winning variety.
Walsh controlled the offensive momentum as they took 25 shots in the game with 12 of them on goal.
Mickey McClanahan made two saves for her 11th shutout of the season.
Walsh will take on the Cedarville Yellow Jackets on Thursday (Nov. 14) at 12:00 PM in the G-MAC Semifinal at Roger Glass Stadium in Dayton.
