(CANTON, Ohio) – In a men's and women's twin bill with former conference foe Daemen, Walsh had little trouble as it cruised to a 9-0 victory at Weis Park on Tuesday. The Cavaliers improved to 3-7 while the Wildcats dropped to 4-8.
Daria Bondareva and Snezhana Kiseleva had the best day for the Cavaliers as the duo gave up one game as doubles partners. Kiseleva followed up with a two-set shutout in singles action while Bondareva won with a pair of 6-1 sets at No. 3 singles.
Walsh's top player Sofya Logunova also had a strong day as she paired with Mercedes Fernandez with an 8-4 win over Karli Hollins and Hayle Scanlan at first doubles. Logunova followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hollins in No. 1 singles play. Fernandez won 6-3, 6-1 over Scanlan at second doubles.
Victoria Ambrosio and Gabriela Laguna-Leon won 8-5 over Gretchen Ringler and Jessica Robins at second doubles. Ambrosio went on to defeat Robins at fourth singles as well 6-3, 6-1. Laguna-Leon defeated Shaylah Iverson 6-0, 6-3 at fifth singles.
It's the first shutout of the season and comes right before the Cavs take their final road trip of the fall season this weekend. Walsh will open up the weekend with Grand Valley State on Saturday at 10 a.m.
