Women's Tennis Gets Key Win at Lewis, 5-2

PLAINFIELD, Ill. - The Walsh University women's tennis team improved to 5-4 on the season with a 5-2 win over the Lewis University Flyers on Saturday (Feb. 23) night. 

The Cavaliers won the second and third doubles matches, earning the doubles point. Mercedes Fernandez and Clara Drasch were 7-6 (7-4) winners over Joie Reisch and Teresa Pilzova at second doubles. Nicole Beidacki and Parvanee Karimpour were 6-3 winners over Sophie Davis and Sarah Markun in the third doubles slot.

Lewis earned two points at first and second singles before Walsh earned the final four points in third through sixth singles. Drasch won third singles 6-3, 6-1 over Alek Sredojevic. Katharina Razum was a 6-3, 6-0 victor against Reisch in fourth singles. Beidacki dispatched Davis in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 in the fifth singles hole. Sofia Khairutdinova sealed the Cavaliers win with a 6-1, 6-0 win in sixth singles. 

The Cavaliers will travel to Grand Valley State on Sunday (Feb. 24) for a non-conference match at 5:00 PM.
