(KENT, Ohio) – The Walsh women's track and field wrapped up the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State in a big way as three school records were broken at the meet. Katie Mokros (Fr., Massillon, OH/Central Catholic) set two of them in her debut while Kendra Britzman (Jr., Canton, OH/South) provided the other.
Mokros started off by shattering the 60 meter mark with a time of 8.01 in prelims. The old mark of 8.37 was set by Brenna Kirkbride in 2007. Mokros' second record came in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.25, good for an eighth place finish in the event. Athena Culverhouse set the old mark with a time of 27.04 in 2002.
Britzman set a new record in the weight throw with a distance of 14.26 meters, or 47 ft. 1.5 inches. That broke Sheila Greller's mark of 46 ft. 1 inch set in 2003.
In other action, Anne Wise (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) was seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:23.86. Kendra Zbinovec (Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) was seventh in the shot put with a distance of 12.87 meters. Mikayla Dearing (So., Navarre, OH/Perry) won her heat and finished eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.63.
