Three Records Fall at YSU Invite

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - Three school record fell today for the Walsh women's track and field team today at the YSU College Invitational at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. It what seems that it will be an ongoing trend this season, Sarah Berger (Fr., Wadsworth, OH/HS), Meredith Fennell (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest), and Mikayla Dearing (So., Navarre, OH/Perry) all broke school marks previously set themselves.

Berger turned in the best performance place-wise with a fourth place finish in the mile run behind two Division I runners and an unattached runner. She crushed her old mark with a new time of 5:06.27.

Fennell finished sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.16. Dearing reset the 400 meter dash mark with a time of 59.26 to finish seventh.

Other strong finishes for the Cavs included a trio of fifth place finishes. Anne Wise (Jr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) did so in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.91. Fennell had a top-five finish in the long jump with a best distance of 5.26 meters. Kendra Zbinocec (So., Lyndhurst, OH/NDCL) also had a top-five placing in the shot put with a distance of 12.24 meters.

The Cavaliers will return to action a week from now in a conference competition as Findlay hosts the final event in January.
